Juan López Sena created this brand in 1880. In 1908, it was transferred to his heirs, who sold it to the Sociedad C. Del Peso y Cía. in 1918.

The wrapper is Connecticut Shade grown in the Connecticut River Valley around Windsor, Connecticut. Remedios are made in Esteli, Nicaragua by Juan Bermejo.

1492, the year, that changed the world. The "Old World" discovered the "New World", without ever realizing this fact.

On 12th october 1492 Christopher Columbus reached America. A date, to be found in any school book, showing the begin of the Modern Age.
Another discovery is not mentioned by the school books. Some days latet in that October, Columbus noted in his Logbook something quite extraordinary : "Women and men have been met with a fire-burn in their hands and with leafs to smoke them in their original way.
Tobacco was discovered. Tobacco has not changed the world, but has opened a - so far - unknown world of delights. "HOMMAGE 1492" series wants to attract the connoisseurs looking for an original smoke - the moment of silence. These cigars are thought as hommage to the modern way of discoverage together with a modern life style and value-stable traditions.

These Premium-cigars are produced by MATASA, the manufacture of Quesada family, one of the five biggest and best-known manufacture plants in Dominican Republic, managed by Don Manuel Quesada, who arrived 13 year old with his parents 1960 from Cuba coming in Dominican Republic. In their head they had the most precious flight-package : the knowledge of tobacco and cigars.

Today, 42 years after, Don Manuel Quesada is leading manager of MATASA, one of the best-known cigar producers of the world.

For "HOMMAGE 1492" only TOP-tobaccos from the very best cultivation areas are used; for the filler tobaccos from Cibao-valley and Real-valley, for the binder a Domingo Havanna Seed and for the wrapper a noble, full-bodied Vorstenlanden from Indonesia, that gives each cigar its own characteristic taste and an unchangeable, velvety pale-sparkling optical appearance.
